Waterfall, sandy beaches await day hikers

Black River, just before it makes a 160-foot drop at Big Manitou Falls.
The northwest corner of Wisconsin’s Douglas County includes a diverse array of trails, from hikes to the tallest waterfall in the state to walks along sandy beaches.

The majority of the trails can be found within the City of Superior or at Pattison and Amnicon Falls state parks. Three of the routes – the Gandy Dancer, the Wild Rivers, and the Tri-County Corridor trails, are former rail lines turned hiking paths that head to other counties.

Among the great day hiking trails of northwest Douglas County are:
Big Manitou Falls overlook trails
Wisconsin Point Trail
Millennium Trail
Thimbleberry Nature Trail
Gandy Dancer State Trail
Wild Rivers State Trail
Tri-County Corridor Trail
