Great activity for day hiking kids: Ghost Word

"T." "A." "L." "L."
Generally, exploring and discovery is enough for kids, but sometimes even they can grow bored with that and become restless. Remember that they naturally have shorter attention spans than adults.

Fortunately, there are lots of tried and true activities you can do on the trail that’ll keep kids from getting bored. Among them is Ghost Word.

Each child in turn calls out a letter with the object of completing a word. For example, the first to go might say “H”. The second child might say “I” The third child might day “P” and complete a word. The child completing the word then gets to call out a letter for the next word. Calling out a letter that won’t result in a word – such as the second child saying “Z,” is against the rules.
