Fun game for kids on day hike: The Word

How many times can you use "leaf", "tree" and
"trail" in a conversation?
Generally, exploring and discovery is enough for kids, but sometimes even they can grow bored with that and become restless. Remember that they naturally have shorter attention spans than adults.

Fortunately, there are lots of tried and true activities you can do on the trail that’ll keep kids from getting bored. Among them is The Word.

Select three random words. During the hike, see how many times each of you can use these words in your conversation. For older children, this can be turned into a competition by awarding a point each time the word issued.

Materials: None

Ages: 5 and up
