Generally, exploring and discovery is enough for kids, but sometimes even they can grow bored with that and become restless. Remember that they naturally have shorter attention spans than adults.
Fortunately, there are lots of tried and true activities you can do on the trail that’ll keep kids from getting bored. Among them is Tossing Pebbles.
Kids love it this super simple activity (And why not – it probably predates spoken language.). Toss pebbles or small stones into a pond or waterway; kids love to see how far they can throw it and the cool splashes and ripples that follow. No throwing at animals (such as waterfowl that have landed) or toward people.
Materials: Rocks and pebbles along the trail
Ages: 2 and up
