Great day hiking activity for kids: Chain Story

"One day, a group of children discovered a collection of magic acorns."
Generally, exploring and discovery is enough for kids, but sometimes even they can grow bored with that and become restless. Remember that they naturally have shorter attention spans than adults.

Fortunately, there are lots of tried and true activities you can do on the trail that’ll keep kids from getting bored. Among them is Chain Story.

One kid starts a story, and the others continue it by giving a line or a paragraph. Some story openers: “There was an old troll who lived in a trash can”; “The little girl wiped a tear from her cheek”; “The monster wondered if he’d ever see his home again.”; or “One day the teacher told us, ‘I must return to my home planet now.’”
