Activity for hiking kids: The Name Game

"Jennifer Aniston." "Ariana Grande."
Generally, exploring and discovery is enough for kids, but sometimes even they can grow bored with that and become restless. Remember that they naturally have shorter attention spans than adults.

Fortunately, there are lots of tried and true activities you can do on the trail that’ll keep kids from getting bored. Among them is The Name Game.

No, not that annoying Shirley Ellis song. Say the name of a famous person – a sports figure, rock star, actress, your favorite environmentalist. Another person in the group must then give the name of a famous person whose first name begins with the same letter as your person’s last name began. For example, you might say “Peyton Manning.” A good response would be “Mitt Romney” (unless you’re a Democrat, of course).
